What’s Next?

Welcome back!
You know, I was wondering that today. Not just the after election activities but what’s next for us all? The economy is headed downward, the stock market can’t make up it’s mind whether to tank or go sky high. Lenders won’t lend, car makers are about at the end of their leashes. And big oil is finally taking a hit like everyone else. They earned it. But we need to start taking a good look at what we need to do to improve ourselves because if we are waiting for the government to do something for us, it would be like swallowing a diet pill dry. It might start to go down easy but in reality it won’t go well at all. No, government is not going to bail us out. We have to do that ourselves.
I think we ought to find a way to make new businesses, open up jobs, get into the school systems and change the way things are taught. We cannot expect the government to do all that. They have failed miserably so far at it. Why not have the PTA or whatever it’s called these days to get more involved. It is obvious that few parents are involved now in the education of their children. Only those who decide to homeschool can actually say that they are really involved in their children’s education. Before someone comes along and tells me how much they are involved, do you teach at that school? Is it on a higher level than most schools in the country? Then something is right about it. The school I went to was not particularly progressive but they taught more than the ones we have around here.
What we need is school reform, state reform, federal reform and reform of the way we think as a country. I can tell you that things are going to get worse before they get better. I would have said that regardless of who inherited the White House. So many wrongs are happening. So much is fouled up that it is definitely going to take a massive amount of work to get it anywhere close to right. And I do not see that happening since the rest of the world took a hit when we did with this financial crunch. I suspect that they will not see it as their problem but ours. And why is that? Well, our lending institutions were the bright ones that decided to bet on a not so sure thing without backing the bet with real money. And then the lenders went boom.
So, we need to buckle up and do what we must to help ourselves since we cannot count on the government anymore, if ever we did. And I doubt you can count on your neighbors either. These times are getting harder. There is little unity in this country. Perhaps some of this will bring it back. Who knows. I certainly hope so. We could use some of the old pride of country and flag.

You’re right. Government had supposedly gotten laws on the books to keep people from speculating in the stock market after the crash that happened in the 1920’s, no one followed the rules. Government has definitely NOT helped. People have gotten apathetic, if they even know the meaning of the word, these days. It is sad, not hopeless, but sad.
Tillys last blog post..Encouragement
The word “supposedly” is a big one. It is highly likely that there are laws and rules on the books but I doubt that they will get them out for those who did this. It seems that the CEOs of these companies have walked off with lots of dollars while the American public is bailing out the company they took down. There is something drastically wrong with this picture.
