No Last Minute Changes For Me…We Voted Already

Posted by: From Arkansas in Are You Kidding Me?, Electronics, politics on Oct 23 2008

Welcome back!

I love early voting. Years ago, the only reason you would do that is if you were going to be gone from the voting place on the day of voting. These days, the campaigns are both urging people to do the early vote to avoid long lines. With that in mind mainly because I cannot stand in a line for more than a couple of minutes these days, we went to our court house to vote. Surprise! We had to wait in a line. The good part was that there were benches outside the door where you could sit. Then, at the voting machine…yes, we have FINALLY come into the twenty first century….I had a chair to sit in so it was quite nice for me. We do have a large number of retirees here in our county so they allow for that.

Having mentioned that I will make no last minute changes, the voting was great for me. For those who are still undecided, not an option. However, it does work for the rest of us. Frankly, I have gotten somewhat disgusted with the campaign tactics anyway. Mr. McCain has been putting out attack videos for his commercials and Mr. Obama says he would not stoop to that level of campaigning while his own attack commercials are running. Are you kidding me? We shall see how many are buying this from these folks. I do know that they, those working at the polls on election day, are expecting more people this year than ever before. This is going to be a record setting election no matter how you look at it. Either a black man is going to be president or a woman is going to be vice president. And record numbers of people voting isn’t bad either.

Now if they would only figure out that the electoral college is a hopeless mess, things would be much better all around. I am so hoping we do not hear all about the battleground states having problems with their voting machines. After all, these people that make the machines have years to get them ready for these elections. Is it too much to ask in a technologically forward country to have some simple thing like a voting machine working correctly for a few hours? I hope not. I would like to see this election be problem free no matter how it turns out. I will say this though. Beware of those who promise much!!! It is highly unlikely they can deliver on the promises. Beware of those who seem to be the only answer since it is unlikely they are what they appear to be. Beware of a politician who appears to be the best thing since sliced bread. NO ONE IS THAT GOOD!!!

Above all, make your voice heard regardless of how you vote. Go to the polls on election day or vote early. Either way, do the one thing non-free countries cannot do…VOTE!s

You tell em, vote or don’t gripe. If you vote, you do have the privilege of griping. If you do NOT vote, you gave up the gripe chance.

Exactly! There are too many people that like to gripe or tell others what to think about the elections and candidates. I love to vote because I know that my voice is now heard, however small it might be. With more of those like me, we can be heard together.

      Thanks for your opinion!
