Favorite Shows Come Back

Welcome back!
Most of the time, we have no interest in television shows. Most of the things on tv are nothing to write home about. Yet, we do have our favorites. A couple of years ago, a new show called “Heroes” blasted onto the small screen and took over NBC. People had some extraordinary powers that they discovered usually by accident. Those powers would be different for each person but would have interesting effects on the person depending on whether they were good or evil. It was such a great hit that we could not stop watching it. When the season ended, it was with a cliffhanger, of course. I really hate those since you get to wait it out until they return.
In my kid years, shows went a lot further into the summer. We did not have to wait as long for new shows. Now you end up waiting for months. Last week, Heroes came back with another blast. Exciting? Yes. It will be back again tomorrow night. But first, a studio in Los Angeles resumes showing “Chuck”, another action packed drama that also has you waiting for more. Chuck was an unwilling participant in a government action. His best friend sent him a computer program that, however it happened, downloaded into Chuck’s brain. Now he accesses the information at weird times and places. His “memory” spits out information needed to catch bad guys.
We wait for “Boston Legal” to show up too. That has been one of our very favorite shows for years now. The interaction between William Shatner’s character, Denny Crane, and James Spader’s character, Alan Shore, is priceless. They have “fourth wall” comments at times which are hilarious, at least one per show or they did have that in the last couple of seasons. Who knows what will happen this year?
Our television watching is becoming less and less as there are less and less good shows. Our definition and the studio definitions are different as night and day at times. At one time, I had favorite shows on every night. Now only three, sometimes four. Sad is the fact that what used to be comedy is now usually too hard to take.
