I know that the statement is not all that big a deal. It was to me though. I was a kid. My uncle and aunt had a farm. That was fantastic to me. Well, it was until we got there. Nasty smelling place. I wanted to go home immediately. But we stayed because we came all that way to see the extended family. It was a learning experience. They lived in Iowa and had a hog farm. Whew. I could have used some oxygen at that point, I can tell you. But you get used to it. I was shocked to find that out.

Since those days, I have decided that there was no way I wanted to live on a hog farm. Now raising cattle or horses, that’s not bad at all. That we could see ourselves doing or at least we could have a few years ago. Now, not so much. But it would have been nice to check out all the horse supplies since I loved riding. A saddle smells so good. I love that leather. I gave up riding horses when we stopped living in an area where they rented them. We did not live on a farm when I was growing up. I think things would have been pretty awkward having a horse in the neighborhood we lived in. Lots of houses, brick streets, hospital two blocks away, highway two blocks away, houses very close together. Yep, I think it would have been a tad hard to explain.
