Looks Like I’m Going Against The Grain

Welcome back!
If you aren’t familiar with that phrase it’s because you aren’t old enough to remember it. And I am definitely, at least from some of the blogs I have read recently, going against the grain. The other day, I saw the John McCain announcement about Sarah Palin as his new running mate. I really like her. She seems to be right in your face which is one thing I like the most. This lady, who is practically unknown to the political realm, is just what the country needs. She is definitely a breath of fresh air which I know we need in Washington.
I truly believe that most of the country has had enough of the political insider crap. I know I have. All these good ol’ boys and girls that have been in congress for X number of years and have all the deals they can handle right in their hip pockets. Take Joe Biden for example. PLEASE take him. I cannot stand that guy. The reason Obama put him on the ticket was because of his Washington savvy. Do we really need more savvy here? Wouldn’t it be better by far to have someone who is not plugged into all the crap going on there?
Frankly, if things do not change in Washington, this country is going to be in the dumper. And I do not believe that Mr. Obama has what it takes to do the work needed to get this country back on track. He has no experience so he gets a guy who has more than enough but is it the right kind of experience? From what I had seen, Joe’s experience is trading this thing for that. He is an insider who has power in the congress. Do we really need more of that? They call him an expert in foreign relations because he has been on the powerful Foreign Relations Committee. Actually, I am concerned about people who have that much power going into an office like the Vice President because people like that have friends that will do things for that powerful person. And too, they owe others. I am not certain I would want someone like that in such an office. Add to that, the guy who has no experience whatsoever. It doesn’t sound like a good combo to me.
John McCain is a war vet, a prisoner of war some of that time he served and has been in congress for a while too. His faith carried him through the worst time of his life. I believe that his faith has brought him through congress to this point, a Presidential candidate. He does not have the same type of reputation in congress that Mr. Biden has. I like John McCain because he seems to want to change things but will do that in the conservative manner that is required in Washington right now. We do not need someone to come in and try to change everything at once which would put everything into chaos. I think we have enough of that now.
Sarah Palin has shown that she has the grit and determination that we need for someone in the second highest job in the land. She is currently governor of Alaska, has experience on the local level as well. She is a mover and shaker. She does not have all the ties to Washington that Biden has. She is a fresh face in what I believe is a city full of old timers that need to be booted out and get more fresh faces. What we really need are some Mr. and Mrs. Smiths going to Washington, electing people who have never been there, who would be able to make a difference simply because they do not have to kiss someone’s tail to get something done. I really wish we had more people who had no experience in that town in congress. I get so disgusted with those people in congress that like the status-quo so much that they are willing to trash the country for their own agendas. Just remember what our lovely congress has been doing about the latest pain at the pump and the resulting prices of literally everything. Uh nothing. That’s what they have done. I believe that Sarah Palin would not be like that.
Hats off to Mr. McCain for having the sense to put someone like her on the ticket this November. Listen, I know I sound like a hayseed that has no clue. Guess that’s the way you see it. But there are more of me than there are of those who are in the know. Maybe it’s time people took notice of us, the little guys. We vote, in case you had not noticed. Say, I know what I like. And Sarah Palin is going to show people that she means business. You go, Girl!

I think Palin might just get the attention of some of us “conservatives.” Gutsy move by McCain!

Yes, she is that. And very gutsy move by McCain. The “experts” say that he blew it doing that. I’m not so sure of that. These so-called experts are part of the problem, in my not so humble opinion. Maybe we need less experts and more common sense.

Your Welcome!
I would say that Palin is more of the same. She bows to the god of Big Oil and her faith did nothing to keep her 17 year old on the straight and narrow.
You have the right to your opinion, I just wanted to share mine.
PRESS RELEASE DELETED
***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 29, 2008
Shocking Choice by John McCain***
CyberCelts last blog post..Go Batty This Weekend
First of all, I deleted the press release because that is not your comment. It is a press release from somewhere else. And unless you wrote it, I will not have it here. This is for comments from the readers.
Second, I respect your opinion. I just do not happen to agree with it. Sarah Palin is a mother and wife. She has problems in her family just like everyone else. I cannot see how anyone could blame her for the actions of her daughter. It seems to me that she would lose no matter what she did if people are condemning her. If she lovingly takes care of her daughter, she is agreeing with the pregnancy. If she throws her to the wolves, she’s a bitch. Lose, lose. I think she is handling it just right. That is her daughter and she obviously loves her. It’s not like it’s a huge scandal anymore.
As for the “god” of big oil, there seem to be a whole lot of people who “bow” to that “god”. A lot of them are in congress and that does happen to include others in this campaign. I do not believe that particular situation has anything to do with party lines at all. Both sides of the aisle like to pander to the big oil guys. After all, if they didn’t there would be some regulations on how much big oil could steal from us poor slobs.
Does she want to open drilling in Alaska? I sure hope so. Our country needs desperately to get away from oil in the middle east. Those jerks over there are trying to run our country and so far, they are doing a pretty good job of it, as are the big oil jerks in this country. We NEED to get away from all that. If that’s what you are calling the “god” of big oil, then I am on that bandwagon too.
Thanks for your comments. Sorry you couldn’t keep the press release.
I am never impressed when folks throw around phrases like “Big Oil.” Personally, I am thankful that some are doing the hard work of financing, running, and facilitating the use of oil so that you (and I) can drive our cars.
If someone chose not to drive or use any of the products produced by “big oil” I would have a bit more respect for their opinions about it (though I would still disagree).
So, CyberCelts, have you given up driving, flying, electricity, hand lotion, plastic, etc.? Or are you bowing to the god of “Big Oil?”
The personal attack on Palin and her daughter doesn’t even deserve a response.
