Since this is Sunday, I did not expect much action but I did expect the doctor to show up like he said he would. We are still waiting on him. But he has not shown up so far this morning. The spider bite continues to get better with the red spot getting smaller but it is still a bit impressive. It’s very obvious that the antibiotic is working its stuff. Because it is the weekend, we did see the doctor who covers for the admitting doctor though not the surgeon. His name escapes me for the moment. It was pretty long and I am terrible at names if I do not already know it.
I guess I was sort of expecting to go home today but no dice if the surgeon does not get here soon. You know, I was thinking back to Friday when our doctor was telling me I had to go to the hospital. Up to that moment, I really did not think this thing was that serious. But he made it clear that it was then. Actually, it can be life threatening. I was pretty shocked to know that. Made me want to take out some cheap term life insurance before we headed to the hospital so that my husband would have something left to pay the bills after all this. Ah well. That was on Friday. Things have changed.
We found out that I sure am not going home today. This particular observation unit is only good for up to 48 hours. We came in on Friday at 1pm. That means that in a matter of minutes, I will be moved to a regular room in the hospital since I cannot go home yet. The infection, while leaving me slowly, is not yet gone. They did not want to chance it, I guess. I do appreciate that.
Okay, now I like it even better. We got moved to the new Women’s center. The rooms are all private. I thought we might have to fight for a private room like we have had to do in the past when my husband was in. Most of the time, the hospital assigns double rooms. I hate that. The other guy is usually there already and has control of the bathroom and the television. It wasn’t pretty in the past. But this time, it’s a private room right from the gitgo. I love that!!! And since they fed me before I left the observation unit, I do not miss a meal like it has happened when moving.
I should mention at this point, having had the supper meal, that I wish I had missed it. Dry chicken, boiled to death broccoli. Yuk. Maybe tomorrow I can go home and we could do our own meals. Much more tasty, that’s for sure.
Note: It’s now late in the evening and the doctor still has not shown up. I have known them to come in the door after 11pm but I think that might be stretching it a bit. For now, I will just believe that he will show up tomorrow with good news. Here’s hoping anyway.
