Takes Me Back A Few Years

Welcome back!
On the way to a doctor’s appointment 60 or so miles from home, I spotted a school bus for sale out near the highway. It looked in pretty good condition too. That takes me back. In my young, totally strange and clueless days, my ex and I wanted to travel around the country pretty much working where we could find it. My parents, who did not think that was the wisest idea on the planet, did back us by buying us a school bus to drive.
It was fantastic. A 46 passenger bus makes into a pretty decent camper when you take out all the seats except the second row behind the driver, turn the first row around and put a table in between. Put in a sort of closet up front, add some curtains, put a bed in the rear and you have yourself a mighty fine camper to tour the country. These days you would have to completely paint it so it no longer looked like a school bus but then it wasn’t as important, I guess. We had my uncle paint a sign on it and paint out the school bus signs. We thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.
Quite a few miles were put on that bus before it became obvious that we could not fix it anymore. At that point, my ex traded it for a 57 Mercury and gas money. I still say it wasn’t a fair trade since we didn’t have a place to sleep anymore. Ah well. Those were the days.

school days are always the best days for anyone
bunking classes…crush on teachers..what not
I miss them badly ..
Wow, no life, huh? I do not really want to go back to those days. Sometimes I get a bit nostalgic and that comes out in what I write but the truth is that I hated my time at school. I was a nerd, a freak. Kids do not treat people well that are not conforming to them.
