Wire Confusion

Posted by: From Arkansas in Computer Stuff, Family stuff on Jul 12 2008

Welcome back!

We have a weird setup for our computers. Very weird. There are wires running in several directions behind and on the side of our computers. There are two in the office/bedroom and one in the livingroom. Wires everywhere. Now, I know I told you that we have a new puppy. Well, she isn’t as new anymore at about 4 months old. And she is getting really big. She loves to play with all sorts of things including the wires around our computers. In fact, she loves to chew things too.

Well, so far we have gotten her a few chewy rawhide bones and a couple of toys that look sort of like the Gumby character. They’re what we call her little buddies. I have no idea what she calls them other than bedtime sleeping buddies. She chews on them quite a lot. So, it was with a great deal of surprise when we found out that she liked to chew on wires too. And that brings me to my confusion today. In order to fix the wires, since we had some Cat5e cables, I just assumed that my husband would install those but NOOOOOOOO. Know why? Because CAT6 is available. Now we would not want to have something that is sort of outdated, right? Uh nope. But then, it doesn’t matter because the computers are outdated. The doggone things are pretty old by today’s standards. Old. Double old. They’re old, okay?
