The REAL Whiners, Mr. Gramm

Posted by: From Arkansas in Are You Kidding Me?, Give Me A Break, It's A Rant on Jul 12 2008

Welcome back!

Mr. Gramm, this post is directed solely at you since you think we are a nation of whiners. Well, lets see what a real whiner is, shall we? We sat and watched when the CEOs of several oil companies were called before a congressional committee. While there, they whined at how much they were not able to do because they needed more tax breaks. Does that sound familiar to you, Mr. Gramm? It does to me.

I sat with my mouth hanging open at the idea that those people who have a multi-million dollar salary PLUS perks sitting there were pleading to have more tax breaks when each of those companies sitting there received the largest profits that year than ever recorded before. Each of those men who were CEOs receive more money than most Americans see in their lifetimes. Each of those men sat there and tried to put forth the idea that they were needy.

No, you know what needy is? Families going broke because of high gas prices, high food prices, the cost of goods going up, medicine being higher than ever before, medical needs being cast aside due to not having the money, homes lost because of greedy lenders. It is ALL ABOUT GREED, Mr. Gramm. And if that’s whining then we need to do a lot more of it until those greedy ******** (fill in any part of that blank you want, Mr. Gramm. They deserve it.)

And what has our wonderful government done about these greedy ********? Not a single thing. Not only that, but the biggest lenders in the country, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac need a bailout. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? They were part of the greed. How about bailing out the little guys that really need it? How about raising Social Security to a LIVABLE LEVEL? How about putting a rein on those oil companies and their greed through the congress who does have the power to affect change. How about the President letting lose the oil reserves? I am willing to bet that if he did that, those greedy oil companies would find a really great way to lower the prices.

How about it, Mr. Gramm? Tell us more about our “mental recession”. Tell us how we are simply dreaming all of this and our country isn’t going down the tubes as fast as those in power can get it there. Tell me, Mr. Gramm. If we aren’t so bad, why are so many people “whining”? What’s up with that?

I AM SO MAD AT MR. GRAMM and those who are just like him. I am so mad that the do nothing congress, who by the way, give themselves wonderful raises year after year, is not dealing with the oil companies because they are so afraid of losing their backing. They are so afraid of the lobbyist in the background. When did it happen that our country is willing to sell itself to the highest bidder because, Mr. Gramm, that is exactly what it looks like is happening.

Now, what is the American public going to do about this? Are you going to sit on your butt and watch the world go by? Are you going to pretend it is not happening to you? For those who can afford the gas prices, how about checking out what it’s doing to the rest of us? How about helping those who cannot help themselves because some day you might just need us.
