Things That Make Me Happy

Posted by: From Arkansas in Family stuff, Fun things on Jun 13 2008

Welcome back!

Most of the time I write something here, it’s about something I don’t like or am mad about. Today, I wanted to write about things I am happy about or feel blessed to have. I guess the reason I decided to do this is because someone on a forum wrote that most of the posts were about high gas prices and the housing market. All sad stuff. I think it’s about time to write something happy, don’t you?

So, the first thing I can think about that has made me happy recently is that my niece had her baby. Our precious little bundle of joy is somewhere around 16 days old now. She is absolutely beautiful. Her Mom and Grandma as well as Grandpa are so proud of that child! And happy. This baby is quite happy. I love to see that! And it’s fun.

Another thing that makes me happy is to be able to just rest and relax. That isn’t as easy as it sounds, especially in our family. We live in a rural area of Arkansas and to get around takes time and energy. We live 18 miles away from the rest of the family. Sometimes that can be difficult to say the least, especially in emergencies. But, we are also a very close family. So that makes me happy too.

Of course, my husband makes me happy too. Oh, we do have our disagreements but they don’t last. I love him so much! He and I have been married for almost 13 years. Some folks would say…so what? Well, I used to be married before for 20 years. That time was not happy, not most of the time. This is time I cherish.

We have a new puppy. She’s three months old today. While she can be a problem at times, she is a bundle of……motion. She loves to run and play. Not only does she make me happy, she makes me laugh and often. If it isn’t when she is carrying around a chewy in her mouth like a cigarette, it’s when she runs after a ball, pounces on it making it skitter across the room which makes her run after it and pounce on it again. Tonight, she was sleeping with her head on the rung of a tray. It was a Kodak moment but we do not have the camera for it. But I am happy we have her in our lives.

My cat makes me happy too. He has been hiding just lately because the puppy can be a bit overwhelming to anyone. So our cat is very cautious about being around her. She pounces on him too. That can be a problem for him. But he is as funny as the puppy. If he isn’t meowing at the top of his lungs so someone will PLEASE feed him…not starving…just acts like it! He gets up on top of the recliner and taunts the pup who sometimes gets into a fit because the cat is not currently reachable.

While it may not seem like it all the time, I am happy. There are things I need and want but they will be there when I really need them or want them. I am blessed! I am truly happy because I have a Savior Who has died on the cross for me. I did leave Him till last because I wanted that image to be the last read here. My Savior is my friend and my Master and Lord! I am so blessed.

It is great that you are so close to your family, and that your happy. I have been married for only 3 years, and I am very happy. I also have a close family life. What kind of puppy do you have? I want to get both a puppy and kitten. I was told to get them both at the same time. My last cat died several years ago, and I am lonely without her at times.

Thank you. Yes, our family is close. Our puppy is a mix of lab and german shepherd as well as some other…unknown quantities. LOL! We have a cat too.

I agree that you will want to get them at the same time although we did have a dog for over 4 years before we got our cat, then a second cat 4 more years later. That’s just the way it happened. The first two played together for a while but the dog was getting older and didn’t want to anymore. The second cat and the first had a bit of trouble getting used to each other. Took a couple of weeks. Then they were best buds. Our dog and first cat both died unexpectedly two months a part. We did not want to get another animal but our remaining cat was mourning himself to death.

We now have that new puppy. As of today, she intimidates the cat because of her size. She’s 3 months old. But we believe that they will eventually be friends. If we could have, we would have gotten them at the same time. It would have worked much better.

      Thank you for visiting!!
