Remember Those Old Flicks

Posted by: From Arkansas in Movies on May 28 2008

Welcome back!

We were all sitting around thinking about the “good ol’ days” when the subject came up about the old movies, you know, the REALLY old movies. Black and white. Sometimes it had sound, sometimes not. Charley Chaplin, the Keystone Cops, Of course, I was having some problems remembering that far back since I am not THAT old. My Mom can recall some of the old flicks but she has problems remembering that far back too.

But really, those were the good ol’ days because the movies were clean, mostly, and they had entertainment value as well as a good message. Now days, the more violent, the better or so it seems. Those of us who have some taste do not really want to see such things with all the blood and gore. Lighthearted romance and funny things that are not suggestive. That is what we want to see. I do not mind all the drama. That’s great. Remember when the guy was the big hero and you knew it because he had on the white hat? Remember when he went into a bar, the ladies there were all wearing things like ostrich feathers and boas that dripped with fuzzy stuff? They always wanted to give a short kiss to the hero and hope he came back to her.

Naturally, the good guy had a “nice” girl instead and went to her when it was time to face the bad guys. The bad ones always had more people to do the dirty deeds, to surround the good guys. And when it was all said and done, the bad guys were caught or killed and the good guys won the battle and the hero got the good girl while the girl in the bar looked sadly on. Now wasn’t that great? YES!
