Middle Income People Visiting Food Banks

You know that things are out of control when those people who make over $50,000 a year are visiting food banks due to the bills and mortgage taking all the money. Nothing left to feed the kids. What is the world coming to that we have this total imbalance in our society? The world is coming to the end of an era. Our country has been all about prosperity. We live, many do not all of us, the American dream. A house, two new cars, a few kids and a great job or maybe two jobs, one for Daddy and one for Momma.
That dream is now turning into a nightmare that is all too common these days. Because of bad financing and worse decisions on the parts of the homeowner, the lending institution and the governments, both state and federal, we are facing a huge crisis. And the worst part is that the natural disasters are just adding to the big picture of a falling nation. Not only are the natural disasters adding to it, the middle east oil barons are doing the same thing. But therein lies a big problem.
In 1973, we knew that there had to be some changes in the way we bought and refined oil products. We knew then that if we did nothing the oil guys in the middle east would have a stranglehold on us as a nation. And now here it is 2009 and the bell is ringing on how we did nothing to fix the problem. WE KNEW and did nothing. I say that, as an nation, we are getting what we deserve. The real problem is that most of us had nothing to do with these decisions.
So, what can be done to fix things? I suspect that if the congress wanted to, it could do things to change the way oil is bought and produced. I suspect that if we got to the greedy oil companies we would find that they had a good reason for ignoring the problems and staying with the status quo. I have no idea what that might be but you can be assured that their collective pockets have been lined with green bucks all the way.
I am disgusted with this country, the greedy oil companies and the oil barons in the middle east. Did anyone catch that news story about President Bush having to go begging for the oil guys in the middle east to “please send us some more!” I feel like a relative of Oliver Twist. And now I can safely award the SHAME OF AMERICA award to the middle east guys, the greedy oil companies, congress and those who think that this is all a great idea for this country while the rest of us go broke paying for the damned gas we have to have to go to the store where the prices are rising faster than Grandma’s bread.

sad to hear the current economics are going down fast, wat we can do is try to save as much money as we can by stop wasting.
gas & food r limited in some country, we are quite lucky tht our country gov did backup plans for us.
good day
i think a lot of ppl are facing hardship nowadays. Expenses have tripled over the last few years. Now even rice has gone up in price
This price rising is a problem for everyone. I was just very surprised to see that the middle income folks are in that much of a jam too. Expenses are horrible. I have no clue what we will do this winter ourselves.
Thanks for your input.
