Sometimes The Virtual World Is A Mystery To Me

I guess I have been on a computer and online for about 12 years now. That is so hard to believe for me. But then I think back to when we had that old Color Computer working online. We obviously did not have graphics capabilities so everything was text…the email lists and any websites I went to. Because I had no real idea of what was out there at the time, it wasn’t that bad. By 1997, we upgraded to a better machine and WOW! I discovered what I had been missing. PICTURES!!!
Still, the virtual world is a mystery to me. For instance, in the beginning, when I wanted to send someone a copy of an email, my mind thought about creating a hard copy and sending it. Well, not really but I did think that if I sent it, it was gone. It took some time for me to get into my head that I still had the email in my inbox or folders. Sigh. I do know better now, of course, after all these years. But the net is still a mystery to me.
No-follow, for instance. You know what I would love to do? See, I have this thing turned on so that I can see all the “no-follow” links out there. Too many people still have that no-follow turned on. Now, I have it on at this blog until a person has commented a few times, then it’s gone. Makes for a nice way to have a link back to their blogs. I like it but it has to be earned by commenting. On the other hand, some people say they have no-follow turned off but it’s still there. Here’s where the virtual world is still a mystery. In my mind, all I have to do is take my Swiss Army knife out and cut the no-follow out of there. See? Takes care of the problem…only it doesn’t because it would have to be a virtual swiss army knife to work, wouldn’t it. Sigh.
Maybe I should just send it back to the Swiss Army. I told you. The virtual world is still a mystery to me.

Sometimes I wonder is I am normal. I online almost all the time from day to night and just keep on working. Part of my life is spent online working and I feel tired at times. Perhaps I should go on a holiday, a break from the internet.
Frankly, I get too much holiday away from it when I need to work.
Thanks for the comments.
I think unless you’re a tech wiz, most things online will be a mystery. I have been online the best part of a decade and i am still learning new things. The fact that technology is also developing at an alarming rate does not help, new uses for the internet are being implemented daily!
