Cats And Dogs: Oh My

Posted by: From Arkansas in Pets on May 04 2008

Welcome back!

We acquired a puppy a couple of weeks ago. We already have an almost 6 year old cat. He has seen two of his family die, our older cat named Kitty who was 9 and our almost 14 year old dog, Jazmine. When that happened, our younger cat was no longer willing to play. He was so clingy that he stayed with me most of the day.

Then we got the puppy. Misty is almost 8 weeks old. She is a German Shepherd/Lab/who knows mix. Misty loves to play with Gizmo, the cat. A lot. More than a lot. So much so that he has to find places to go that Misty cannot get to him. He needs a breather every once in a while. Usually, of course, he’s right in there playing with the pup. But I know there are times when he’d like to see a big, tall cat tree in our livingroom. The pup finds him almost everywhere now. I guess we need to get ahold of one of those trees. That way, he can get away when she turns into a much larger dog in about 16 months or so. I suspect the joke is on our cat. I hope he appreciates it.

Pooor cat… Mine is 6 years old now and my daughter loves to play with him A LOT… his wish is not taken into consideration at all. He is hiding from her under my working chair, on the top of the speaker, but it doesn’t help much, she still can reach him wherever he is… It takes him much patience really not to scratch or bit her…
