Stimulus Checks Going Out Early

Welcome back!

The much awaited stimulus tax rebate checks will be going out a few days earlier than previously expected. President Bush said that this is to stimulate the sagging economy by giving the money out in the hopes that most Americans will actually be typical and blow it on fun stuff.

Sad facts say differently. Most Americans are in trouble financially. They will likely be paying out more to the rich oil companies instead of having that fun. I think that’s a crying shame since the incredibly rich, greedy oil companies do not need another cent from the American public. Unfortunately, there is no way to get people to stop buying gas when they need to go places. For instance, we live in rural America up in the Ozarks. There are no cabs to hire, no buses to ride, no public transportation at all. If you want to go somewhere around here, you either have a car or you find someone who has a car. There are no other options.

That means that gas must be purchased at the current prices. We are at the mercy of the money hungry oil companies with their “fat cat” CEO’s that had the guts to go in front of congress and play their “boohoo” games while asking for MORE tax cuts for the same oil companies that showed bigger profits than ever before in their histories. These are the same CEO’s who get outrageous salaries and perks, much of which could be giving discounts and rebates on the mountains of money they are collecting just because our oil rich tails MUST buy more and more gas to put into the gas guzzling cars.

Where is this going to stop? Nowhere. It likely will not stop because you cannot get too many Americans doing what they should, boycotting the oil companies and the gas stations. It will not happen. Why? Because people are basically selfish. They believe their own situation merits them being the “special case” that needs to gas up and go on their way without regard for the rest of us. Believe me, the CEO’s of these companies do not care about you, the consumer. They are just sitting in their very expensive offices raking in the money while the rest of us suffer with too many bills, too much debt and sky high gas prices that go along with the ever increasing food prices that go with the gas prices.

So, get ready. Here come the checks. I hope yours helps you.
