Up On The Rooftop….Not Reindeer…Workers

Welcome back!

We rent our house and have for the last 6 plus years. Nice little house. But occasionally, it has problems. Our area had a tornado on Feb. 5th of this year. It’s the date I can remember with clarity. It didn’t touch our house because we live on the backside of a hill, for which I am ever grateful. But after that date, we started having the most rain I have seen in this area in a long time. In fact, the ground is soaked to the point that we have nowhere for the rain to go anymore.

During a whole lot of rain, our roof began to leak into our livingroom. We had some of those ice cream buckets that are 5 quarts so we put that under the leak until the landlord could get someone out to fix it. We have a fantastic landlord who tends to fix things as soon as is humanly possible. I have never had such a landlord in my life. He is a gem. We got a call that night that the roofers wanted to come out the next day. Well, yes, of course.

My husband and I were busy with our blogging when we started hearing the pitter patter of rather large feet on the roof. Ah ha! The roofers were here!! My husband went outside to see what was up. He likes to learn as much as possible from people doing such repairs. The next thing I know, there is a bam bam, quick bambam and a bam. Then others. Apparently this was the pneumatic nail gun one of the guys was using. My husband noticed that they were using DeWalt tools including the nail gun. Obviously, the tools they were using were great for what they needed.

The landlord decided to have the roof fixed in the one area where it was leaking and simply put a new set of shingles on the rest of the roof. I suspect that two things were the case here: 1) He could not really afford more…and 2) The roofers were incredibly busy because of the other problems that were weather related around here. We were blessed that they showed up right before another big downpour that we had one day later. Awesome! No more leak!
