Visiting My Friends In Texas

Posted by: From Arkansas in Family stuff, Travel on Apr 17 2008

When the time comes, and I hope that’s soon, we are going to be traveling to Belton, Texas to visit friends of mine that my husband has never met. I cannot wait for that. The woman has been a sister to me for over 30 years. Her husband has been my friend and brother for over 23 years. It’s been a large number of years since I actually saw them. Most of our contact is by phone or mail. Recently, they have gotten online so I’m certain that we will be emailing back and forth furiously! :)

After we have a really great visit, I wanted to go to a place I have heard about but never seen, North Padre Island. I have seen pictures. The place is awesomely beautiful. In fact, I thought we could check out some North Padre Island rentals just for the fun of it. I would love to know what type of homes are available there. You know where it is, don’t you? It’s an island just off the coast of Texas near Matamoros and Reynosa, Mexico. I have been as far as Harlingen, Texas, before but never any farther south in that area. Sounds really great to me.

That would be South Padre Island. It’s much more developed than North Padre Island and is about 21 miles from Brownsville, Texas and Matamoros, Tamaulipas.

Ah, my mistake. I had heard about that place for years but had never been there. Nevertheless, either north or south, both are beautiful places. I would still like to check out North Padre Island because if it isn’t as developed, it is likely to be slightly cheaper to rent, I would think.

Thanks for the heads up and the comment!
