Soccer, Rain And Girls
Posted by: From Arkansas in Family stuff, Sports on Apr 14 2008
This year, two of my nieces went out for soccer. Of all the years to do it, this was one of the worst. We have had so much rain, it’s a wonder the girls can have practice time. But they do have some…in between raindrops, I think. Anyway, they have a number of games in a small season. I believe they have eight altogether.
Of course, when you do something like this, you get all sorts of equipment to help. Both girls looked very soccerlike on Saturday when I saw them in their uniforms. Earlier in the week, there had been a mad scramble to get the last of their equipment. See, they had their uniform shirts, socks, shorts, leg guards. Ah, but they were missing something. Soccer shoes! Those were acquired and then they looked very properly soccer. Of course, the shoes really looked like golf shoes to me but what do I know about soccer??? My daughter used to play it but that was so many years ago that I couldn’t tell you anything about it at all.
Anyway, they went to the games (they play two each Saturday), got incredibly cold because there was a freeze warning out that no one anticipated and got back having had a blast. Did they win? Nope but who cares. They had fun!!!
