Water, Water And More Water But Not A Drop To Drink

Welcome back!

If you have been watching the news the last few days, you are well aware of the flooding going on in the nation’s heartland. And here in Arkansas, we have had our share of that! Last month, our area got hit by an awesomely terrible tornado that wiped out many businesses and homes. The cleanup has only just begun on that. FEMA left only a short time ago. Then, two days ago, we got hit with massive flooding. I have to admit that our area is not as bad as some in Missouri but it’s bad, nevertheless.

There was a gas station in the background. You can see the structure there in the picture. It’s gas tanks were coming up out of the ground a couple of days ago. That was pretty scary especially since the flood was right in the middle of the station. On the radio this morning, we were advised about a boil order, meaning that the water is not fit to drink without boiling it. We certainly understand that one. We live on the side of a hill so our house is up high enough to not be flooded.

Others were not so blessed as we. They lost their homes and all their belongings. This is not the first or last time that river would flood it’s banks. We live near the Spring River. Hardy got flooded again. The last time I remember it being this bad was in 1982. First there was a tornado and then a flood. Same thing this time, only it was worse and farther apart.

The picture I put here is not the best in the world but it shows the town center near where we live. You can’t see most of the flooding because we could not get there from here. The car in the picture was stuck right there. Someone was rescued from it when the flood came on so swiftly. Usually, that low bridge is quite dry. Things are beginning to settle down. However, the schools are still out for another day because of the boil order. Ah, it will be grand to see the rest of spring.
