School, Pens, Pencils And Paper

Welcome back!
Long ago and far away, there was a school system that actually taught the kids something. I know because I was there in school getting taught something. Frankly, I’m not sure what right now but I did learn things then. In grade school, we got our supplies in a big room at school, not at the local Walmart since it did not exist then. The supplies were really pretty cheap and you could get lots of whatever you wanted….like #2 pencils. They were two pennies apiece. Paper was a dime in big packages. Erasers were a penny apiece.
When I went to junior high school, the supplies were a bit more interesting. Protractors, bigger erasers, slide rules, compass and much more. The thing was that we were growing up and needed more things. In high school, it was more of the same. But we started using pens for our reports. I did not have a typewriter so it was still written out. My reports usually left something to be desired but they did get in on time….mostly.
Then graduation came. I got a lot of presents, many things to see me through college though I did not go at that time. But one of the best gifts I got then was a set of Papermate pens, two pens and a pencil. It was awesome. I had never had such a great gift of that kind. Of course, I got the luggage set and some writing paper. It’s been a while since then and much has been forgotten. But I will never forget the pen set because it meant that I was growing up. I loved them!!
