Striving For A Better Signal

As I have mentioned a few times, we live in a rural area of Arkansas in the Ozarks. We do like living here for the beauty of the area, the wonderful mornings when we see the deer in the yard, the silence instead of cars and trains everywhere. It is wonderful. But there are problems too. We have limited services for health care, limited stores and limited signals for cell phones.

It is sometimes funny what we have to go through to find a signal for our cell phone. There are times when I feel like a pretzel trying to get that signal especially in a place where they have a lot of metal. First, I have it high in the air. Then it’s way over here. Way over there will give me a signal…maybe. ACK! For instance, I lose the signal inside big discount stores. Actually, I lose the signal in the doctor’s office now too since they remodeled and added on a whole building!

So, I found out that there is such a thing as a portable cell phone booster. It took a minute to get the idea that I might not have to do the pretzel thing if I had one of those. Okay, we are talking PORTABLE here! You can use it anywhere! We go to my Mom’s house which is about 18 miles from our house. During that trip, we can lose the signal several times. With a portable cell phone booster I have a feeling that would no longer happen.

You know if you have a cell phone the dreaded words are “dead zone”, right? This booster would change that. Recently, a member of our family was in a tornado. If he had had a portable cell phone booster with him, one of us could have gotten in touch with him to avoid the tornado that ripped through our county. Instead, he was tossed through the air in the minivan he was driving. That could have been avoided all together. So, I think we will think about getting a portable cell phone booster.
