My Trip To Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Posted by: From Arkansas in Travel on Jan 22 2008

Welcome back!

Before I was married and after I had quit trucking, my friend and I took a trip from Fulton, Missouri, to South Carolina for the purpose of seeing friends I had not seen in many many years. They were living there with their sons. He was about to be an assistant pastor at his church while his wife was, as still is, a manager at a bank there in Myrtle Beach. I had met them in 1975 when I had stopped in Jackson, Mississippi where he was then in Seminary. Yes, my life has been interesting.

After we saw them, it wasn’t a stretch to think about going south because we had heard about a place called Hilton Head Island. We knew that if we did go there, we would need to get a Hilton Head rental because it would be far to expensive to get a motel or hotel for as long as we were planning to stay. Unfortunately, before we could go there, my friend got a call from her husband who was still a trucker. He was coming home early and wanted to see her back home. We had to leave. I missed an opportunity to go to a place that was just a hop, skip and a jump from Savannah, Georgia, a fantastic place to visit too. Awwww.
