G**gle Does It Again And Again And Again

Posted by: From Arkansas in Are You Kidding Me?, What's Wrong With This Picture?, What's Your Opinion? on Jan 13 2008

Welcome back!

Will it ever stop? As I have said in previous posts, G**gle upper echelon types are acting like they are having a tantrum. When is this insanity going to stop? Probably not soon. What am I talking about? G**gle, the mighty and powerful search engine that can do no wrong in some people’s eyes, is having a tantrum, a fit, a crybaby moment. It seems that they do not get the whole money pie online so they will try to crush anyone else who wants some of it too.

Let me back up and talk about paid blogging for a moment. There are elitist bloggers who believe that if you get paid to blog, you are poisoning your blog. It is impure, nasty, somehow less than their blogs. I happen to believe that I can do whatever I choose to do on my blog and if that includes getting paid to blog about products and services, especially if I have tried them and love them, well then, yes I will do that regardless of whatever huge company chooses to have a tantrum.

See, most companies out there want to be seen on the net. We all do. What it takes is to get others to link back to your blog or to that company, lots of links. Companies are willing to pay people to put links and ads into their blogs in order to get that exposure. I see nothing wrong with that. It is a nice income especially for folks, like myself, who are disabled and want to be able to support my family and myself. Some people actually have no other income than that.

But in comes G**gle and other search engine companies who are also interested in income from such enterprises. Now, G**gle assigns the pages on the net a page rank. The rank numbers go from unranked to page rank zero up to ten. Guess who has a ten? You got it. G**gle. Don’t know if any others have that high but they do. When they assign a page rank, the companies that want the advertising look at the blog and decide, many based solely on the page rank, to invest in that blog and pay for a post with links and sometimes pictures of products.

In come the companies that are willing to be middleman for the bloggers. That way, the blogger does not have to spend months developing their customers. The middleman company can find the advertisers and match them up with the bloggers Sometimes, those middle guys let the blogger pick their own, sometimes not.

Bringing it up to now, G**gle noticed these companies…one in particular…that were making money by being middle guy. They did not like this. Big shots from there searched a way to make the middle guys go out of business due to the greed that overcomes the bigger outfits. And they found a way. I envision this conversation in the boardroom of the big search guys.

“We have a problem here. Those companies are taking our profits away right and left. What can we do?”

“If we go after the big companies, they will just get lawyers and sue us. No good.”

“Wait! This is perfect! Instead of going after the big guys, let’s focus on the little people, the bloggers who need the income. If we force them to stop working for the big guys, they go out of business.”

“Isn’t that a little tricky here? They could get together and sue us too.”

“No, they won’t do that. We have survived lawsuits before. We can again. This is beautiful. We take out the little bloggers. They leave the company. It dies. Not bad. Not bad at all.”

And, folks, that is exactly what they are doing. Many of us had page rank that was at least a 3 to 5. That means that the advertisers were more inclined to want to pay someone with those numbers than those who have a zero or are unranked. The companies are still looking at the page rank G**gle uses because they are so big that other companies think they rule. Well, they do only if the companies are willing to use what they offer.

We bloggers who believe that the heavy handed tactics of G**gle are tearing apart our means of income are writing about this very thing. We believe that a publicly held company should not try to use their might to beat down the little people into a supposed submission.

At G**gle, they claim to be good guys. All they want is for the bloggers to redo all their blogs to fit guidelines according to G**gle, come hat in hand, beg for reconsideration after the blog is fixed to their satisfaction and the blogger is all set. What’s wrong with this picture????? EVERYTHING!!! G**gle has no right to tell any blogger how to run their blog. We are sacrificed on the rock of greed for the sake of the giant money grabbing machine.

If you believe that G**gle does not have the right to treat you this way, how about an anti-g**gle badge on your website or blog? Simply copy the image on my sidebar of the slash-g**gle and paste it into your blog or website as you see fit. Maybe if they see just how many people loath them, they will reconsider. Maybe it takes a few stockholders seeing this to get a clue. Whatever it takes, it’s time for the big search bully to take it’s ball and go home!!!

I would love to hear your opinion. I do not mind opposite opinions in my comments section. However, if they get full of flames or in any way seem derogatory, they will be removed and so will your link. Otherwise, tell me what you think!

EDIT NOTE: I should have mentioned that my blog dropped from a page rank of three to a zero because of what others are calling their g**gle spank or smack. Yes, I got smacked too.

Google has every right to do it. They are a business and they will do whatever makes them the most money.

If you don’t like Google, stop using them! Use Yahoo or some other search engine. That’s what the competition is all about.

Mike, HELLO!!!! I stopped using G**gle as a search engine a long time ago. They are USING ME!!! That has been my problem the whole time. Where in this do you see me saying I use G**gle as anything???????

I do thank you for giving your opinion.

One more thing here. Yes, G**gle is a business that is doing what they want to do. I agree with that. However, there is a moral obligation on their part not to destroy people’s incomes in the process of being as greedy as they actually are.

They are doing this so that they can have more and more money while trying to take out the small bloggers. How on earth is that a good thing…well, except for the fact that it works in their favor. The word, Mike, is GREED.

Google is doing what many companies do. Adjust their business to suit the market demands and adjust.

The fact that people rely exclusively on Google page rank (which Google themselves has said is arbitrary anyway) to prove their worth to advertisers sounds like all ones eggs in one basket. Why can’t they use Alexa info or any other number of measures in conjunction with Google?

If advertisers cannot see beyond Google page rank then the idea is not to change the broken system(Google) but to educate advertisers on other metrics that can determine the worth of a page. When you do that then Google will loose it’s stranglehold.

Google as a publicly traded company has ZERO obligation to bloggers and 100% obligation to the shareholders. They have to look at bottom lines and make as MUCH as they can. Granted this screws the non-shareholder but that is what is their legal obligation.

Yes, I do understand all that you are saying. However, I do believe that when G**gle saw that the page rank was huge with the other companies and that because of it, people were getting hurt by their tactics, then they have an obligation to deal with that in another way.

I do think that G**gle’s image would be much better if they saw that and changed their tactics.

As far as paid blogging is concerned and their almost crazy attitude about it, perhaps it would be wiser to realize that G**gle does not need ALL of the money from the net. When that happens, maybe the rest of us can have a small chunk of the pie again.

I think the real issue here is that G**gle is being selfish and dominating. They want to run the world and they will do anything they can do get that accomplished. Shoving around the little guy isn’t in their best interests but they are doing it anyway. Some day, that will come back to bite them in the posterior with a vengeance. They do not see this, however.

      Thanks for your comments.

Google has every right to do as they please. It is their search engine after all. That doesn’t mean we have to like it. I actually started a Meta Social Search Engine that is looks promising. I still love Google though and I know it stinks for all of the bloggers, especially considering that I use PayPerPost and Smorty for several of our companies.
As others have said on this issue all over net if we rely only on pagerank, this is all our own fault.

Yes, G**gle does have the right to do what it wants. However, there is a moral issue here. They are fully aware of what they are doing to the small bloggers. It is ruining an income that most of us desperately need. I’m sure that anyone who sees G**gle as the good guys do not see the need here.

It does stink for bloggers but here’s the thing. G**gle did not go after the COMPANIES that do paid blogging. Why? Lawesuits maybe since they are conducting business like they are able to do. IF G**gle would do the right thing, they would do what they should and go after the companies that they do not want grabbing their money.

Ah ha. Now we get to the root of the problem. Greedy G**gle wants the whole pie, all the money on the net. That’s their problem in a nutshell. They want to dominate. Big shocker. So, they go after the little people because they believe that if enough little people get hit by this, the big companies go out of business without them touching the big companies…thus, no lawsuits.

Unbelievable the way G**gle is acting. Self righteous jerks who think they run the net, needing all the money and dominating the searches.

The sad part is these companies are still using the G**gle ranking system. If only they would stop, then G**gle has no power. But that will apparently not happen either.

So who loses? Only the little bloggers. US! Those of us who depend on this income to get through the month. I cannot stand G**gle and I am not happy with PayPerPost either. They STILL use page rank.

Does no one learn here???? NO ONE????

      Thanks for your comments.
