Debates On Saturday Night

Welcome back!
Notice: Not sure what time warp I was in but the debates were on Saturday night for those of you who noticed my mistake with the title when you clicked on it. Sorry!!!
===============================
Did you watch the debates on Saturday night? We did. Very interesting. There were six candidates available for the Republican party who went first in the rounds. We had John McCain, Fred Thompson, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Rudy Guiliani and Mike Huckabee, the frontrunner in the Iowa voting.
The debate was, at times, heated but still with a sense of humor, for the most part. I did learn a few things about the candidates I did not know and it gives me a better idea of who I want to vote for should I vote for a Republican. I am an independent voter so I felt that information is the key to the best vote.
Most of the time, the candidates did answer the questions thoughtfully and straight forward, unlike most debates where they sling mud as much as possible. McCain and Romney went against each other but Huckabee and Romney also were against things each had stood for. Mr. Thompson brought some very thoughtful ideas to the table as well as his sense of humor.
In the second round, we had the Democrats. The list included John Edwards, Barak Obama..frontrunner in Iowa for the Dems, Bill Richardson and Hilary Clinton who had a very poor third place finish in Iowa.
They, too, went after each other although it was, for the most part, friendly. Hilary took exception to a couple of things Obama said and went after him on them. It looked a bit like teaming up against her a time or two with Edwards and Obama. Mr. Richardson seemed to be the outsider with his idea of diplomacy for everything instead of dealing with the subject powerfully. There were some friendly comments made as well. They do appear to get along pretty well. This debate gave me a good idea of who I would vote for, at least cut down the field a good deal, should I vote Democratic in this election.
The important point here is that I watched the debates and now have a better idea of what some of the candidates stand for. A couple of them did a dance around the subjects but over all, they did pretty good with their answers. I did hear some lies spoken as well.
The reason I did not give a lot of specifics here is because those you can get online on the ABC news, the people who put the debate on in the first place. Next time, you will want to watch it since you cannot get the whole idea unless you can see the candidates actually answering the questions.
Now, the ball is in your court. Please register to vote if you are not already. Please vote when the days come. This election is very important to our country and we must not overlook that fact. Get out and vote!!!
