This Is Pickup Country, Not Fancy Car Country

Posted by: From Arkansas in It Ain't Sorted, So What, Just Stuff, My Take on Things, Odds And Ends on Dec 30 2007

Welcome back!

We have lived in this area for some 10 years now. Prior to that, we lived in the middle of Missouri. In all the places I have lived, there is one thing that is perfectly clear about this place and the previous place we lived, that it was and is pickup country. This is the Ozarks and cars are not nearly as plentiful as pickups. Of course, cars are here and in abundance but you are more likely to see a pickup coming ’round the bend than a car, unless the car is also pretty good at slick roads and climbing muddy hills.

Nope, you do not see those fancy cars around here. Which ones? Oh you know, the Rolls Royces, the Cadillacs, the Lincolns (well we do see some of them but they are usually older cars), BMWs, Infinitis. You know what cars I’m talking about. Those really fancy ones with the custom headlights, custom seats, custom billet grilles, custom doors, custom everything. We simply do not get those kinds of cars around here, I guess because of the deer running across the road all the time, the muddy roads and maybe the ice storms…who knows. But there you are.
