Now For The After Christmas Stuff

Welcome back!
It’s been a couple of days since I put anything up here on Off The Cuff. It’s been a tad hectic, to say the least. First, there was all the preparations for the Christmas celebration at my Mom’s home. There are nine of us that are able to be there for that. One was unable to come. We did this celebration on the 24th so that no one has to be traveling on Christmas day. That was a relief.
We did have our opening presents time (takes too many hours). After that, we have a buffet style meal which is a blessing because no one wants to have a huge meal then. Our huge meal is on Thanksgiving. When the food has been consumed we are all unable to do much else because we started the opening of presents somewhere around quarter to nine, AM, and it’s now almost 2 PM. Whew.
We leave just before nightfall so that we can get home before it gets too late. Christmas morning is the time for a parade on television and a reflection of what the day is truly all about, Jesus’ birthday, which is not really in December but it’s a great time to honor Him anyway. At least, the world sees it that way. I believe we need to honor Him all day, every day, but what do I know.
The day after Christmas, we decided that we were not going into the morass of the stores because they will surely be crowded with people returning the gifts they do not want for whatever reason. Besides, we didn’t have anything that needed returning. That’s because the family believes in at least getting a person the things that they want and in the right sizes to start with. How wonderful my family is. They care. I am blessed.
