The Endless Political Race For The White House

Welcome back!
I call the thing the campaigns are doing…endless…because they are that. We started hearing about this campaigning a long while back and we still have slightly less than a year to listen to more of it. There are many candidates that are flat out and out lying to get votes. A well known news program found some of them. Not great!!
The thing I hate the most is that in recent years, many people have had to vote for the least nasty candidate rather than one that they could get behind and back. It all has to do with those nasty campaigns that most candidates insist on holding. We have recently seen one from a very prominent name in the running that was an out and out lie simply to get votes. The person was trying to make us believe that they introduced a bill to get health care for soldiers in Iraq making it appear that most of them or all of them did not have any insurance coverage at all. Not true. Almost all had the coverage for active duty and most had coverage in off duty situations.
You know what? That particular candidate could certainly use a colon cleanse to my way of thinking. They are spreading lies that, if a person did not know better, would make the voting public believe something that isn’t happening at all. Others are telling a half lie to bring voters to them. The real problem is that so many will believe that one and not see the person for who they really are. That is so sad and it will go along way toward hurting our country.

Yes, I saw a couple of them like that. I just hope that the public sees this for what it is, the usual political thing. Apparently, there is no such thing as a lie when you’re running for office and want to win. Sigh.

And yet we live in a time when we have a lot more access to real information through multiple channels (blogs too) that let us form alternate opinions. I would say, things are probably better today than ever before.
You may be right there. We do have more information and can see people for who they are. The trouble is that when someone likes a candidate they are reluctant to find anything wrong with them. That happened to me too. A person I respected very much made it into office. Now they are not appearing to do what they were supposed to be doing. Of course, appearances can be deceiving as well. But it will come out in the end, whatever happens.
But now we are faced with deciding on a new President and there are only a couple of candidates that I would even consider. It may be really tough next year.
