On The Road Again…More Stories From The Cab Of A Truck

Welcome back!

I was on the road for several years driving a semi truck, hauling loads from one end of the country to the other. It was not unusual to find myself in New York City and then in Los Angeles all in the same week. Frankly, I loved it for years.

One of the strangest stories I can tell, I suppose, was one time I was out in New Mexico running on I-40. There were several of us driving together. Now, you have to realize that we do not know each other. We simply got on the radio and started talking away. Soon, others joined in. We found out that we were running in the same direction and that was that.

One day, I kept hearing about a really great looking car coming up along side the trucks but the lady inside was giving the guys in the trucks a show. Not great but I heard about it for miles. I had no idea where she was but I figured out that she was behind me somewhere. There was a guy driving and she was “showing off” for the truckers. Soon, I heard a lot of talk about her. It was actually getting pretty graphic. You know how it is with guys. Locker room talk.

For a while, I didn’t hear anything else about her so I figured she and her companion had left the main road. It was pretty silent for a bit. Then, the guys started talking and shouting about her over and over. The next thing I knew was that there were two drivers telling me about this woman coming up near my truck. Now, I did have a fairly low voice on the CB radio and some of the guys really didn’t know I was female. LOL!! So, they filled me in on the attributes of the gal in the really great looking Corvette coming up behind my truck.

Pretty soon, I got a full view of the gal and her attributes for myself. Uh, since I am female and have the same things, perhaps not in the same dimensions, but…well never mind. She had not looked up yet so when I looked into the car, she was…um, flashing me…is the most polite way of saying this. Then she looked up! ROFL!!! She turned a rather incredible shade of red. I had never seen anyone turn that color before. After the shock wore off…hers…she spoke to the driver of the car. Next thing I know…….Corvette tail lights in the distance. It took me the better part of a half hour before I stopped laughing enough to tell the whole story to the guys behind me who still couldn’t get why I was laughing…until they came up beside me. Then we all laughed. I sure do miss trucking sometimes.
