Aqua Dots Latest In Toy Recalls

Posted by: From Arkansas in Are You Kidding Me?, Health Topics, Holidays, News And More Stuff on Nov 17 2007

Welcome back!

As you may have heard, more and more toys are being recalled for various hazardous reasons. This time, it’s Aqua Dots that bit the dust. Yet again, a toy from CHINA has had to be recalled for dangerous substances in or on it. In this case, a date rape drug was placed ON the toys. If a child were to put the beads in his or her mouth, they could get incredibly sick or die from it.

Once again, we are at the mercy of those who do not want to “offend” China. COME ON!!! When are we allowed to be “offended”? After all, it’s our health and welfare involved here. These people absolutely KNOW what they are sending us. Does our government have to be completely stupid? Can we not get a handle on this and ban imports from China before we are all subject to more death threats because that is exactly what it is. They are hitting at our future, our children. Believe me, these people have long memories and they plan long term. All they are waiting on is for our country to expire on it’s own.

Problem: We are helping them do it. We are falling on our collective faces with no one paying the slightest bit of attention. Where are the outcries??? This is a stab at our CHILDREN!!! They are taking us out and we don’t even see it.

Okay, I wrote an article a few years ago called The Frog In The Pot. It has to do with a frog that is being put into boiling water. He jumps out immediately because of his discomfort. The second frog is put into cool water. He loves it so he stays. The water gets warmer and warmer but because he is used to it, he stays. By the time the water reached boiling point, he died being boiled to death. Why did this happen? Because he was so used to the temperature of the water as it very slowly got warmer and hotter. What’s the point?

We Americans are being slowly shown the door by the world. The Chinese are trying to wipe us out with the goods they sell us. And we are allowing it to happen. Yes, we have recalls. That is good as long as we catch the product before it kills thousands or millions. But, one day, we will not catch it and it will devastate the U.S. In addition to all that, we are taking ourselves out of the world simply by acting as we do. Our country does NOT take over countries and dictate what they are to live their lives like. But that is exactly what we are currently doing.

This is wrong, wrong, wrong. Thing is, our troops need to stay in Iraq for now and deal with the current problems. Will we win the war? Nope. This war is not winnable. There can be no winners but we must make the country stable before we pull out. Why? If we don’t, the people who have died in that country, will have died in vain just as the ones in Vietnam did when we pulled out and handed the country over to the enemy. Why did we bother? DON”T DO THE SAME THING AGAIN!!!! And for crying out loud, BAN THE CHINESE from sending us more of their trash. Get a clue, America!

China is not solely to blame, however, it is the common thread and the easiest identifier (Made in China) to avoid while toy shopping. I think there is much to come on the topic of toy safety and there will be plenty of blame to go around.

In the meantime, it’s Buyer Beware - so be smart when you are toy shopping. I found an excellent site where you can search for all these recalls IN ONE PLACE: http://www.RecalledToyAlert.com. You can also register to get the recall alerts e-mailed directly to you as they are announced.

They also have a link to a Facebook application for all the Facebook users out there: http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=9311057039

    Hope it’s helpful!

Yes, I agree that China is not solely to blame. Our own toy manufacturers are allowing these toys to be included. Our government will not ban incoming shipments either. However, it truly is the greed of the private sector that is causing a great deal of the problem.

Thank you for the links and the comment.

As an add on to the last comment, I tried to go to the link called Recalled Toy Alert. It has some type of stopper on it. I cannot get in without a password and ID. No idea what that’s all about. The other link works just fine.
