Support Alzheimers’s Foundation Of America This Season

Posted by: From Arkansas in Charities, Holidays, Odds And Ends, The Good Things on Nov 06 2007

Welcome back!

Let’s start with 5 million. That’s the number of people affected by Alzheimer’s. By the middle of this century, it is estimated that the figure will triple to 16 million people affected by this horrible disease. At the current time, one in ten adults over the age of 65 have Alzheimer’s and about half of every person over the age of 85 has this. Want the kicker? This is NOT a normal part of the aging process. Not only that but there are some related diseases that will affect older adults as well like Lewy Body Dementia, Huntington’s Disease and the much more well known Parkinson’s Disease.

During this holiday season, take the time to make yourself more aware concerning these diseases and what they are capable of. Then, support those who are in the front lines of the fight. The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America has an eStore that sells jewelry for this increasingly difficult disease. These proceeds all go to aid in the fight against Alzheimer’s. The Hearts of Care jewelry selection, an exclusive with AFA, is easily recognized and very pretty to wear. Why not pick out holiday gift for your family.

This fight for a cure has been going on for many years and someday a cure will be found. But until then, the fight for good care for those who currently suffer from Alzheimer’s is also extremely important. Their quality of life need not suffer because of this insidious disease. So, here’s what you can do for those who are already suffering and for those who will soon fall victim to these horrible diseases.

1) You can give from your heart, through donations, to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America to help in the cure and for those who are already dealing with the disease.

2) You can visit the eStore and purchase some very attractive Christmas and birthday presents for your loved ones. Give holiday gift to your family and friends!

These donations will help in ways you cannot imagine. Those who are victims need the quality care that anyone else would need who might be ill. In fact, they need more personal care than many who will one day return to their normal lives. Those who suffer from Alzheimer’s, once the disease gets progressed far enough, will never return to their lives as they knew them.

Won’t you help? One more thing. The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America has a National Memory Screening Day on November 13, 2007. This day is to bring awareness to those who do not yet understand about Alzheimer’s. The National Memory Screening Day is to help in early detection of the disease because if it can be detected early, measures can be taken to help in dealing with the problems associated with this disease before it takes hold.
