Do Americans NEED National ID? What Is It?

Welcome back!

Do Americans need a national ID card to replace the driver’s license? No!! Definitely not. But what is it? A National ID card has much more information within it than the driver’s license you currently hold. The information is held in a database in federal hands.

Years ago, when I was a semi-truck driver, we had to have a CDL or national driver’s license that served as our trucker’s license. This meant that any state that was hooked up with the federal government could find out anything about that driver. Not bad for the police if they find a person who has multiple tickets and warrants.

However, it infringes on our rights as citizens. I cannot believe I am saying this but I agree with the ACLU about this issue. We do not need more government in our lives and this will do just that.

When this type of license is in place, the information from it goes into a national database that is never forgotten. In other words, if you were looking for that speeding ticket to go away in so many years, forget that!! It will have literally everything all the states know, regardless of who it hurts or how mistaken it might be.

Do we really want this in our pockets and purses? I don’t think so!!! At least a number of states have said no! We all need to do so. It is not going to help fight drugs or drunk drivers. It is only going to make things worse for those of us who are law abiding citizens. No way!
