The Last Hurrah For Anyone Out And About Before Winter

Posted by: From Arkansas in Family stuff, Fun things, It Ain't Sorted, So What, Odds And Ends on Nov 01 2007

Welcome back!

I am not a lover of winter. In fact, I hate the cold, the snow and the ice. When I was a kid, it never dawned on me that I might feel this way as an adult. The snow was my ticket out of school! Same goes for the ice. As a matter of fact, ice was fantastic because then I could go ice skating at the park.

Lately, I have seen so many motorcycles out there running around in the last of the nice, semi-warm weather. And while I used to own a motorcycle, these days, I would be looking up life insurance quotes if I had one now. LOL!! That’s because my center of gravity has changed and I just know I might dump the bike somewhere. You have any idea how heavy those things are? A really good bike would take 3 or 4 guys to raise it back up. I am thinking that if I wanted to drive a bike now, it would really need to be a trike, you know, one of those motorcycles with three wheels. Now that’s an idea worth thinking about. But not right now. Too chilly.

i know exactly what you mean. back when a lot of snow would mean snow days, i was all for it. now it is just annoying - unless i’m actually skiing in the mountains, but that doesn’t happen that often.

When I was a kid, we used to build snow forts because of how much we got in Iowa. It was sometimes 2 ft. deep. One day, our school did not close with a huge snowfall but my folks let me stay home. Went to my friends house and we built an ice castle. It was great.

Now, I cannot stand the stuff. Too cold, too slippery, too much trouble. We get stuck in the house for days, sometimes without power. ACK!! I am no longer enamored with snow.

      Thanks for your visit!
