20/20 Calls It Stupid In America–Video

I have to say that I take exception to the news program 20/20 calling it Stupid in America because the only people that appear to be stupid are those who will not allow our children to learn anything. They are Dumbing Down America so that we are a second rate country. GET A CLUE, PEOPLE!!! Our children are NOT STUPID, they are just not getting the education we send them to school to receive.
What a load of crap and no one is stopping this!!! NO ONE. That ridiculous No Child Left Behind Act is not doing a thing but teaching our children how to cheat to get what they want. Is there any end in sight to this travesty???? Are we going to wake up, America??? This receives and will continue to receive the SHAME OF AMERICA award for the year. This year, next year and every year until someone does something to change all this.
I will tell you that this is a full 20/20 show. But you might need to see it to get a clue.
When you are angry enough, DO SOMETHING!!!! Blog about it, call or write your congresspeople, call or write your Senators. Do something.

I heartily agree that the current state of public education is more of a dumbing down than No Child Left Behind. Schools are “teaching to the test” because when more children pass benchmark tests, the schools get funding. Not shameful enough for you? Children who aren’t very good students are often allowed to stay home on test day so their scores won’t mess up the status quo. Additionally, there are teachers across the country who will actually change incorrect test answers so the score will be higher.
Personally, I think tests don’t show you what a child has really learned. They only show you a child who is good at taking tests.
Isn’t it strange that we have gotten to this point with the future of our children. I realize that somewhere along the line, we got complacent about things concerning school and what the kids are being taught. Then, if you have a kid that doesn’t want to tell you what they do at school, you won’t know a thing until it’s too late quite often. It’s a horrible business.
I should be writing about the teachers that should be paid so very much more than they are. We take our best resource for the future of this country and hand it over to underpaid teachers. When teachers are paid the pittance they get, is it any wonder that they end up in jobs that have nothing to do with teaching.
