We Buy The Funny Looking Light Bulbs
Posted by: From Arkansas in In The House, It Ain't Sorted, So What, Odds And Ends, What's Your Opinion? on Oct 16 2007
Welcome back!
You know, we have been buying the regular light bulbs for as long as I can remember. When my Mom worked at GE, we got those bulbs. As we had more and more financial problems, we tended toward buying those cheap light bulbs and ended up with blown lights fairly often, at least every few weeks. That was not cost effective, in my opinion.
But you know how it is. You get into a groove and sort of stay there. We did not change our minds about it until my Mom had this really strange looking light bulb in one of her light fixtures, a hanging light. I mean, to me, it was really strange looking. She told us those bulbs were really expensive but that they lasted for years and took less electricity to shine.
I, of course, ignored it for several months. Those things looked weird but they seemed to be SOO expensive at about $7.50 for three bulbs. Come on!! That’s expensive. Okay, so I am getting a bit cheap in my older days. But then, one day, I said “what the heck. Let’s give them a shot.” Know what? These things are going to save us a few bucks at bill time.
The light bulbs are those twisty looking things. Some of them are standard looking lights with so much power that’s almost not possible for them to throw as much light as they do but it works. The others have a neon sort of glow, bright white, is more like it. We have them in almost all of our light fixtures now. I love them. And not one has blown yet. Not bad at all.
Now, what do you think about those lights? I’m curious.
