When We Gather, It’s A Celebration

Welcome back!
I know it’s a little bit early but I started thinking about Thanksgiving today. This is the day that our family gathers together, those who are local anyway, and celebrate the fact that we are so thankful for so many things.
When my husband, my niece and I get to my Mom’s, we enter into a house that smells SOOOO good. The bird’s in the oven. We have brought a couple of dishes that we make for the occasion that we put out on the table that’s set for nine people. There would be ten but my daughter is in another state. The table looks awesome. My Mom loves to put out the best tablecloth she has for this day. Usually, we do not eat in the dining room when we go to her house. So, this is extra special for that too.
Normally, if we eat, we are all at the kitchen table, which really isn’t in the kitchen because that is for the cooking. The table ends up in a breakfast nook sort of place where we all fit when necessary. But on the turkey day, it’s a whole different thing. It takes weeks to think of what we are going to have this year and plan the menu. Then, we end up with the same things because that’s what makes us know that our family is still doing fine.
