Dems Voting For Child Care And Penalizing The Poor

Welcome back!

The first thing I want to do is put the Democratic congress up for the Shame of America award for this week. I do not think that they can actually do something else that qualifies but if they do, I will most assuredly give them the new award. So what’s up? The democrats of the congress of the United States want to give the children of this country better health care. So far, so good. I agree that this needs to happen. So, who are they penalizing? The poor. Sigh.

The way this works is that they vote for their wonderful bill that gives more health care to the children. How do they get the money for this? By TAXING the cigarettes a dollar a pack! Ain’t life beautiful. Now, I do not smoke. Never have. So this really does not affect me personally. However, my Mom smokes and my sister does so it does affect them. These two people are not exactly rolling in the cash. They have bills to pay.

I get it. You say…so quit smoking. Yeah, I would say that too but it isn’t going to happen anytime soon. So, why does this particular group have to pay for the children’s health again? Uh, how about taxing the crap out of alcohol products? Any shot of that? No, of course not. Why? Because the good congresspeople DRINK, that’s why. Yes, they have kids too. BUT, do those kids have health insurance through the government? YES, of course they do. Are they going to have to experience any of this? Only if they smoke which I am certain that some do. Here’s the rub. They get paid enough to do this. The rest of us pretty much don’t.

Why are they singling out smokers? Why aren’t they taxing alcohol too? I suggest that they do this. I am willing to bet that they get too much flack from the alcohol people. It will be interesting to see how much they get from the tobacco industry.

So, here is the Shame of America award given to the Democrats of the congress of the United States of America. Enjoy it, folks.
