Death Penalty State Did It Again

Welcome back!
Up front, I do not agree with the death penalty anymore. There was a time when I believed firmly that the death penalty would be at least a small deterrent but no more. Not only is it not a deterrent, it appears that it’s only function is to get one person out of the system at a time, with prejudice.
This state, Texas, is the busiest state for executions in the U.S. Texas has been using lethal injections which some say is cruel and unusual punishment. Others feel that the person convicted of murder should get what they deserve. But I believe that Texas is just a little too eager to put people to death this way.
I have to admit that this particular guy sat in the system for 21 years before he was executed Tuesday night but the real problem here is that the Supreme Court agreed to hear the case that this type of execution is cruel and unusual. Bear in mind here that this is the 27th execution in Texas this year with another one scheduled for Thursday night. Gov. Rick Perry said that they would go ahead with their interpretation of the law instead of waiting on the Supreme Court to make up it’s mind about all this.
What makes this particularly distasteful is that the man had the IQ of 64. This did not stop Texas from acting out the execution anyway. Is there no humanity there? Is this the most blood thirsty state in the U.S.? I wonder.
