Iranian President In U.S. For U.N. Assembly

Welcome back!

While our troops are dealing with Iranian weapons being smuggled into Iraq to fight against us, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told reporters that Iran had no intention of attacking Israel or any other country. He was kind enough to tell them that he does not believe that the U.S. is wanting to launch an attack or declare war against them either.

“Iran will not attack any country,” Ahmadinejad told reporters. He said, “Iran has always maintained a defensive policy, not an offensive one and has never sought to expand its territory.”

Does that old phrase about “talking with forked tongue” come to mind for you, too?

Quote from an AP story:

Asked whether he beleved the U.S. is preparing for war, he responded: “That is not how I see it … I believe that some of the talk in this regard arises first of all from anger. Secondly, it serves the electoral purposes domestically in this country. Third, it serves as a cover for policy failures over Iraq.”

Do you feel as patted on the head as I do? This guy is making noises like he is the best friend we could have and still they smuggle weapons over the borders into Iraq FROM IRAN to fight against our troops and those of the allies, whatever allies we have left.

In an almost 30 min. interview, he was apparently talking in a soothing tone and saying that Iranian foreign policy is based on humanitarian concerns as well as seeking justice. Uh huh.

Let’s just take a look at this guy and his country for a moment. They have a nuclear program which is aggressive, weapons being smuggled into Iraq directly from Iran, they support the extremists in Palestinian held territories and in Lebanon. Why on earth should we think of them as a threat? After all, they have humanitarian interests, not war on their minds. And we would be out of our minds if we did not do anything to prepare for that eventuality.
