PayPerPost And The New Best Practices
Posted by: From Arkansas in Blogging Tips, Odds And Ends on Sep 18 2007
Welcome back!
Recently, PayPerPost University offered a new thing called Best Practices, a guideline on how to write a blog that will work well in the PayPerPost Marketplace. For whatever reason, there are bloggers out there that simply write drivel and expect for someone to pay them. It is up to the blogger to learn new techniques and make their blogs interesting enough to read. These guidelines are there to help spark a new wave of blogging both for the blogger and the advertiser.
One question that should come up in every bloggers mind is “What does the advertiser think of my blog?” If that question is not answered satisfactorily, people will not read it and the advertiser is not happy because he paid for an ad that no one reads. Included in the guidelines are suggestions to help the blogger see from the advertiser’s perspective.
A big gripe with me has to do with SPELLING!!! I know that for some folks that can be a little tricky, especially if English is not the first language, but there are spell checkers out there so there is little excuse for bad spelling. The guidelines at PayPerPost University point out that spelling and grammar are extremely important.
For instance, take a look at magazine advertising. Is the ad copy spelled wrong? Bad grammar? Not usually. That’s because people take the time to review it and make absolutely certain that it’s appealing before it goes into the magazine. As bloggers, we have an obligation to do the same, even those like me who are “just folks” kind of bloggers.
What about word count? When we have an opportunity and the description calls for a certain number of words, this is a MINIMUM count, not a maximum. Quite often, especially if I really like the subject, I cannot say it in less than 100 words anyway. The flow of the post might require 250 words on a 50 word opportunity. Great!! Bloggers who fit the subject into their blogs and write their passions often please the advertiser that way.
If you enjoy blogging, it’s easy to write what you like. These guidelines are there to help you do that.
