We Were Ready For The Season…We Thought

Welcome back!
I used to live in Florida a number of years ago. It was hurricane season but our family had never, ever been through such a thing, ever. Of course, we did have the sense to go to the store and get stocked up on food and supplies. After all, the news had all sorts of lists and suggestions for weathering a hurricane. The scary part was that this particular hurricane had already killed several people and was headed directly for us.
It was Hurricane David, for those who actually wanted to know that. The storm was only a few hours away when it suddenly occurred to me that we didn’t get extra batteries. We had a radio, flashlights and assorted items that all needed the batteries to work and we were stone, cold out. Nada.
I called our friend who told us to come over there to be with his family during this really scary time. We did weather the storm. It was actually quite tame by the time we saw it. An interesting note here. The eye of the storm came over us. We were able to go out into the yard while it was there. Yes, I know. You are not supposed to do that since the backside of the storm could hit all at once. It didn’t. We got home even before the storm stopped. We were still out of batteries too. Sigh.
