9 Year Old Goes To A Hong Kong University

Welcome back!
I just posted a rant about our children having problems in school because the system is more or less cheating them out of their education. Then I ran across this news piece and I simply think that we should start a cry that’s heard around the world. We should be crying over our kids who are not ready for this type of education while a 9 year old Hong Kong boy is accepted into college. He is a math prodigy. Thing is, his older brother, who was 14 at the time, got into Oxford. Come on. We need to wake up here. Check this young man’s story out and then decide if our kids are worth this too. I say they are!!
What do we do now? Talk to senators and congresspeople. Get the information out that we need changes in our education systems. When the seventh grade students do not even know how to fill out a map of the United States, we have problems.

There is a vast difference between intelligence and knowledge. Knowledge can be acquired any time.
Think about this question - can IQ of a person be improved?
This child has got amazing intelligence.
but entering a university requires knowledge too… its mutable
And there is a vast amount of intelligence in this country but the schools have chosen to try and change that.
Can IQ be improved. YES!! Takes the knowledge plus the understanding and wisdom that tells you what to do with it. YES!!
The child will gain the knowledge. He has at least some knowledge because he’s there in the first place. It was not just intelligence.

Wow, wonder what he is like when he is 25.
No idea but I’m really glad I’m not the parent. WOW!! Imagine a couple of kids smarter than the parents. ACK!!!

I realy don´t know if that is a good thing. It is a chilf. Of course a very intelligent one but still a child and maybe he will have a problem when he grows up.
Yes, he is a child. That could possibly be a problem. However, if he is as smart as he appears to be, he will likely adapt to his surroundings very fast. The truth is the kid thought the math class, college level, was boring because he had already had that before. Not sure I would worry about him.
