Frustrating Search For Steve Fossett Continues

Posted by: From Arkansas in News And More Stuff on Sep 09 2007

Welcome back!

It has been almost a week since Steve Fossett disappeared in his plane in Nevada where he began the supposed three hour flight. There was no flight plan, none necessary for such a short run.The rescue crews have been combing the area for several days but have not located the famed world traveler.

The problem seems to be that they were finding all sorts of wreckage but it belonged to other wrecks, some many years old. Rescue crews spotted two old wrecks today, one of them from a U.S. Navy plane. They have found at least eight wreck sights, all missing for a long period of time. This, of course, does not help the hopes of those looking for him. If these wrecks had been hidden that long, what happens to him? However, they are still searching.

The rescue crews are searching across an area of 17,000 square miles which was compared to twice the size of New Jersey. But now, they have decided to focus on an area about 50 miles from the starting point in Reno. Statistics say that most flights like this are down within that area. The search continues.

After this search is successful or dialed down, there will be people coming to the newly discovered wreck sites to determine which downed planes they are to give families some type of closure.
