Google Helps To Try And Locate World Traveler

Posted by: From Arkansas in News And More Stuff, Techno Stuff on Sep 07 2007

Welcome back!

While those of us who blog wait rather impatiently for Google to update their page rankings, they are helping to search for the plane of world aviator and adventurer, Steve Fossett, who has not been seen or heard from. He is feared to be in a downed plane but cannot be located at this time.

Google has been supplying the satellite images to help in the search for the missing man. Generally speaking, they do not update and have sometimes images that are years old on their site. But, they are also able to get up-to-date imagery to help the search and rescue teams trying to find Fossett.

Richard Branson, who has financed and sometimes been involved in some of Steve Fossett’s adventures, said he and others were bringing together efforts with Google hoping to see if any of the images might include Fossett’s plane. So far, they have not located him even with this type of technology but they have not given up.
