Tiger Woods Today, Jack Nicklaus Yesterday

Welcome back!

The television was on on the weekends at our house when I was a kid, especially on Sundays. My Dad would turn the TV to the sports and sit down on the couch. It would not be long before he was asleep. Now, I really was not an observant child but it would not take a rocket scientist to get an idea when Dad was asleep. Snoring. A LOT of snoring. And the TV would drone on about the best golfers in the business in those days. Every commercial was selling Titleist golf equipment. The big names were all on those commercials telling us how good the product was.

I do not know who the golf stars are now other than Tiger Woods. Who wouldn’t know about him. However, in the days when the boring golf was on, I still knew who was who. The top three golfers then were Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. I remember that because I could not get the TV changed to something else when I wanted to watch it so if I wanted to watch, I watched what Dad wanted to watch…or snore through.

Anyway, I tried to watch other things. Dad would snore. I snuck over to change the channel. I watched MAYBE a minute of something else. Dad woke up and said he was watching the golf game. Yeah Dad, who’s winning, huh?
