Ice Chunks Hit Dubuque

Posted by: From Arkansas in Beyond Bizarre on Jul 27 2007

Welcome back!

The lady was in her kitchen at 5:30am when the chunk of ice fell through her roof and landed in her television room. The ice chunk was approximately 50 lbs. She said it sounded like a bomb. It was a blessing no one got hurt. That was not the only story about ice in the neighborhood. Roughly a block from the big ice was a whole slew of ice that fell into a tree and scattered all over the place, breaking limbs as it went. The people in the area picked them up and found them to be really smooth.

Does this suggest that it fell from a plane? Possibly. Is it likely that there was some type of weather formation that allows for this? Not really. Clear skies at the time. So, the FAA is getting into the picture and investigating whether a plane was in the area when this occurred. Of course, it could have been a natural although extremely rare happening. They call it a megacryometeor which is close to being a hailstone without the thunderstorm accompanying it.

The thing that grosses me out isn’t the idea of chunks of ice, even the size of those bad boys. What does do it is that if there was a plane, it could have been emptying it’s latrine. ACK!!! I do not want to think about this anymore. Argh.
