The Box Talks To You!
Posted by: From Arkansas in My Take on Things, What Were They Thinking? on Jul 25 2007
Welcome back!
Okay, there is this box, a red and white striped one on the street in Washington, D.C. Don’t jump out of your skin if the thing tells you that you have nice eyes. ACK! If I heard that or anything like it coming from a box on the street, I would think there was some type of television show taping silly things. But it’s not that.
Tom Greaves, who is a Washington artist, constructed “The Compliment Machine” to give out some compliment to whoever walks by. He has recorded 100 compliments that play through an Ipod and out a speaker at random. This particular box is an part of an art exhibit. The artist says that it’s sort of like a mechanical fortune cookie. Now that’s funny. He updates the compliments each night, giving new ones and removing others. It will be in it’s present location until July 27th. Who knows after that.

I think it would be a hoot to do the same thing with criticism. Maybe they could film peoples reactions as they walk by. Would they really take criticism seriously if it came from a strange Red box in the middle of the sidewalk?
HMMM
ROFL! I can’t imagine what the reaction would be. I’m still trying to process what it would be with that box. LOL!
