We Had Connection Problems

Welcome back!
Our connection at our home has been very good for a long time. We have lived here about 5 and a half years. During that time, as long as we were connected by DSL…now over a year (we do live in the sticks), we have had virtually no trouble being connected when we wanted to be. All that has changed. Actually, it had been a problem from the first but we were unaware of it.
The connection we have was doing great, or so we thought. What we did not know because we were brand new to DSL was that the connect speed was not what we were paying for. We connected at 768/256 kbps. Yeah, I know. Not the best. However, for us who had lived in dialup land it was great. Better still was that we could upgrade when we wanted to because they also offered 1000 kbps. But that was more money and, at the time, I was pinching all the pennies I could.
Recently, we found out that the company that we get the DSL from no longer even offers the speed we were buying. So, we upgraded to 1.5 kbps. Yeehaw!!! It cost us no more money because we were simply doing what should have been done in January when they offered it. It was probably in our bill but I did not see it at the time.
And then, I found out that for a measly $10 more, we could have 3000 kbps. I was on that like duck on a junebug. HA! That’s where the trouble started. Sigh. We called to upgrade again. No problem. Company tells us that it will be three working days. Okay. Third working day comes and goes and we have nothing changed. Hmmm. Called the helpdesk. They can’t do anything since it’s after usual hours and they can’t find the order to upgrade.
Hmm. So, we call the next morning. That would be yesterday. The customer service says that we received the upgrade yesterday. Uh, no we didn’t. She puts the call through to the helpdesk. Sigh. The helpdesk doesn’t. Seems that the only thing they can do is put in a work order to find out why this is happening. We think that it’s caused by the lines coming into the house or somewhere between here and the main station. But no one knows at the moment. Come to find out that we have never actually received all of the kbps that we were supposed to have all along. Didn’t know that.
I got to thinking that we have been paying for a set amount of service all this time and we have not been receiving it. Okay, sort of our fault for not telling somebody. Well, we probably would have said something but we were unaware of a problem. Circles. I do not like them when I am in the middle of one. Sigh.
Yesterday, after we talked with the helpdesk, the kbps slowed down…then went up. Slowed, up, slowed, stopped, up. ACK!!! We called the helpdesk, which I should mention, has been extremely helpful up to now. They suggested that somebody must have been working on the problem for us. Big help, Irving.
Today, we still have the problem of the intermitent up and down but it is not as bad. For now, we are hoping that it will be fixed by Monday or Tuesday. Sigh. Until then, it might be rough to try to post. I am hoping this one gets through. Hope. Hope. Hope. Nah, I am believing that it will so it will. God is good.
