Russian Visits..Then Stops Participation In Treaty

Recently, Vladimir Putin visited the United States, and more importantly, talked about an arms control treaty with President Bush at the Bush home in New England. The portion of that treaty that they discussed concerned the missle defense system that our country was going to place in the former Soviet bloc countries.

The problem here is that our President invited this man to his home where they apparently talked about the missle defense system at length. After Putin left, he obviously decided to shut down the Russian portion of the treaty. Sounds to me like the guy came to have some good times, eat well and then take his toys and go home. He states that the missle defense system is affects the security of the Russians and needs “immediate measures” to change that.

This guy plays nicey nice when he wants to but when it does not happen his way, he acts like a teenager and pouts. Unfortunately, this is not a simple childish fight but a country beginning to back away from the rest of us which is extremely dangerous.

Now that he has taken his toys home, he no longer needs to comply with the treaty that requires inspections. verifications and the number of conventional weapons they have or make. How convenient for him.

And what was the White House reaction? Disappointment. Okay, I do realize that they cannot scream out a window for the world to hear how awful this is but perhaps a slightly more appropriate reaction would be good. Something like “Oh yeah? Well, if you take that home, I won’t let you have my Mickey Mouse ears anymore!!!” That should do it, shouldn’t it?

    My first thought is that I can just *see* Putin with Mikey Mouse Ears!

    Beyond that, not only is this bad news but I’d sure like to know what Washington plans to do about it. (besides express dissapointment)

      LOL to the ears. What will they do? Dunno. But they better do something and soon.
