Short Sighted People Will Cost The U.S. Dearly

Welcome back!
I have to admit that it is not great that the Iraqi government will not do their part in dealing with the war and their part in getting themselves to an independent state instead of keeping us more or less hogtied to them for years to come. I do not see that as an option. Never did. But I at least understood that this war was not going to be won in a couple of skirmishes either. President Bush told us that it would be a long fight and that we would not be getting out of there right away. I remember it. He said that on that ship with the big banner that said the war was over.
But, how short sighted does everyone have to be here? If we pull out, we are labeling ourselves as quitters again. Everyone wants to forget we ever got involved in Vietnam but we did. We quit there too. We left the country to the very people who were killing ours and theirs too. And now if we leave Iraq just like we left Vietnam, we will have the same results. Can anyone think about the PEOPLE there? They do not deserve this done to them or their country. But who is the problem? Obviously, there are fighters out there that want the government run their way. They want what they had before. Are you kidding me????
Can we afford to give away that ally? Can we afford to lose more friends. We certainly have precious few of them anymore. With Tony Blair out of the government in England, we do not have so many friends there anymore. Those people will try to preserve themselves and go with the E.U. That cannot be good for us. The E.U. is not our friend no matter what anyone thinks.
So, what now? Who are our friends and will they remain friends when we do pull out of Iraq? Do you think that if we do pull out soon, that we will get hugs and kisses and be told everything is going to be all right now? Come on!!! Wake up! Somebody throw some cold water on this country! Wasn’t Sept. 11th enough? Are we setting ourselves up for more of that? Oh yeah. When we leave Iraq in the shambles it will be in, we will pay dearly, one way or another. Do not doubt this. Be ready.

You are absolutely right and it amazes me that the people in Congress don’t seem to see that. The only thought I would add is that the military has to be left to fight this war. The politicians need to stay out of the battle and let the military do what they are trained for.
You are so absolutely right on that!!! Thank you for saying it.
