Hot Topic–Congressional Vendetta? Or Doing The Right Thing?

Posted by: From Arkansas in Are You Kidding Me?, Political News on Jul 09 2007

Welcome back!

Today, President Bush did what we all thought he would and denied congress the ability to question the two former aides concerning the firing of the lawyers. This is getting to be totally ridiculous in my mind. Congress is trying to “get” Bush anyway they can and the Pres. is trying to stop them anyway he can. Is there any sanity in the world?

In the first place, I thought the lawyers should have been fired if they were only targeting republicans anyway. Why do that? Are there no democrats doing anything wrong? One of the things that is glaringly obvious is that the democratically held congress is NOT interested in finding wrongdoing in democrats. They are only interested in finding wrong in republicans. Why? To get their candidate elected in 2008, of course. The American public is, for the most part, oblivious to this from what I have seen.

You know, every once in a while, someone gets the bright idea to go outside on the street with a mic in hand and ask questions about our country. For the most part, nobody knows anything about this country. Are you kidding me? Where were these people when school was in session? College graduates are answering these things and do not know the name of the Speaker of the House, for instance. They do not know who some of the President names were. There was even a question about when the war of 1812 was fought? Hello?

Perhaps it is time to mention that our school systems are trashy and in dire need of upgrading. HUGE UPGRADING! They need massive input. No child left behind is NOT doing the job. Our school here in Arkansas is probably the worst I have seen in a long time but then I can only go by what I faced in Iowa when I was going to school. Then, we actually had to LEARN something. Nowdays, the teacher puts in a movie…non-related to the class topic…and goes to sleep or out to have a smoke or something. They are NOT teaching enough in our schools.

So, maybe there is a reason why the American public isn’t getting a clue here. Are they? Doubtful. Should congress keep pounding on the President for this? Should he deny their access to the aides? If anyone can see the problem, then they need to mention that somewhere.

The problem, as I see it is this, President Bush is a lame duck Pres. He has only a few more months of office in order to do any good at all. There are some things that should never have been done. They weren’t that good. Despite that, the congress which wasn’t doing all this until the democrats came into power, is now pounding on every possible flaw in the President’s game plan. I have to agree that not all of what he is doing is right, by any means. Still, it is getting extremely obvious to anyone looking that there is a congressional vendetta going on.

Maybe the congress should wake up and get on with regular business.

    You are right!!

My question to Congress: Is this all you have to worry about??

Bush is a lame duck president and as such should grow a backbone and make a really bold statement before he leaves. There was a time when he had conviction and vision, I don’t know what happened.
